There are a few improvements to the iPhone 17 series phones over their predecessors. In particular, the base model now finally has a 120 Hz refresh rate display, a big upgrade when compared to the 60 Hz panel found in the last-gen non-Pro phone.
The president of OnePlus, Li Jie Louis, has hinted that the forthcoming OnePlus 15 will have an "ultra-high" refresh rate display by pointing to the change in the display on the base iPhone 17. The company's current-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship has a 120 Hz display for comparison.
While Li Jie Louis didn't specifically reveal anything, per recent reports, the OnePlus 15 is expected to sport a 165 Hz refresh rate. Of course, this wouldn't be a first for smartphones, as there are phones that come with displays with even higher refresh rates.
Displays in the Asus ROG Phone 9 series, for instance, have a refresh rate of 185 Hz. However, it is important to note that the majority of the other non-gaming Chinese flagship phones have used 120 Hz screens, and Li Jie claims that the OnePlus 15's "ultra-high" refresh rate display will set a new industry trend.
In terms of the phone's other features, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, Qualcomm's next-generation flagship SoC, is expected to be included in the OnePlus 15.
The company recently confirmed that the phone will feature a new camera engine, called DetailMax, which would mark the end of OnePlus's partnership with Hasselblad for its flagship phones.
A recent report has also suggested that the upcoming OnePlus flagship will sport a larger battery while being lighter than the predecessor (16/512 GB curr. on Amazon for $929.99). The company is expected to share more details of the phone through future teasers.
